London Plan Adopted

Keen eyed readers will have noted the Beatles tribute carefully hidden on the front page of the London Plan. Others, will have just skipped past this to the content, which is now formally adopted. It replaces the London Plan (consolidated with alterations since 2004) which was published in February 2008. As of July 22nd the earlier document now has no formal effect. The new regional document will be known as ‘The London Plan- Spatial Development Strategy for Greater London, July 2011’
The new Plan is clearer and more user-friendly than its predecessor and focuses on key areas such as economic development, tackling climate change, housing and transport, which will all be key issues for the capital over the next two decades. It sets aspirational but realistic targets, with recognition of the current economic situation faced by the country.
