Alliance Planning, the national planning consultancy, has won consent from Chesterfield Borough Council for the development of the first units at the 900 acre Markham Vale Site. Plot 1B and IA on Plot 5 will introduce approximately 80,000sq ft of industrial floorspace and take advantage of the recently opened M1 Junction 29a.

Recent months have also seen the submission of Plot 5 which seeks to introduce four 10,000 sq ft units for industrial uses. In addition, a further submission for Plot 1 North and Plot 1 South has recently been submitted to Chesterfield Borough Council, which seeks to provide strategic employment units that will achieve embodied carbon neutral. The latter planning application seeks approval of reserved matters on two units that will introduce a total of 690,000sq ft of industrial and warehouse floorspace. Both units will seek to make use of sustainable initiatives including new cladding systems and integration of renewable energy generation via the use of solar panels, photovoltaic’s, etc.

We’re delighted to have been part of the Design Team that delivered this consent and kick starting the future generation of some 500 jobs with Derbyshire,” comments Gerald Sweeney, Alliance Planning Commercial Director. “This win is of great importance strategically to the site overall and sets a high quality benchmark for future applications.”

Vivienne Clements, Director of Henry Boot Developments Limited, said “There continues to be substantial interest in the wider development; the first building is already let and construction under way. Markham Vale provides a sustainable and contemporary setting for future employment needs with excellent transport links that will encourage wider investment in Derbyshire, Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire.”
